Boy name that can vs. honor a Ruth

We are having a boy. Our first child was named after my mom's parents. Charles and Genevieve and she was named Charlotte Genevieve. Our son we want to honor my husband's parents. We are fine with his father's name as his first name (Jonathan), but how (if possible) can we honor his mom whose name was Ruth. Since this is an honor name, we do not want to do the fake honor of a name that just starts with an R. Is there anything that is remotely close to Ruth for a boy? Or are we out of luck? Thanks

I don't think there is a male version of Ruth. She is biblical.

I agree with your opinion on honouring Ruth instead of just using a random R name. I love Charlotte btw.

Rutherford is the first I thought of.

Ruther (like Luther with an R… I know this one's out there, but I'm really trying to help lol)

Rue (like a short form of Ruth?)

You could always just use Ruth and explain it to people. I guess there is the bullying potential but still.

The meaning of Ruth is "friend". Possibly a masculine name with that meaning?

Or is her maiden name usable as a middle name?

Maybe Ruthes could work? Said like "Ruth-ss" because that actually sounds like a surname and not like a female name.

Or maybe said like "Ruth-iss" and even spell it Ruthis ?

Rhouth is the Biblical Greek form of Ruth. It is also sometimes spelled Routh. Maybe that could work for a boy, since it seems a little more masculine, at least in my opinion. There is also Roth, which isn't related to Ruth, but it is only one letter difference.

I would go Rutherford or just use Ruth, it's a middle name and an honor. It won't come up much, and teaching him to be proud of having his grandmother's name will help him pass it off as cool rather than embarrassing.
Ruth the word is similar to mercy but with a tinge of sadness, so maybe Rue or Clement?
The name Ruth means friend, so Ames might be good.
I suggest Baby names . com as a good source of what the real meaning of various names is and they do solid research before posting about names.
