Sian vs. Pronunciation
I found the welsh/Irish name Sian online.The problem is I also found 3 pronunciations. Sian pronounced Shawn. Sian pronounced Sharn like barn. Lastly Sian like Shorn like torn. Does anyone know the proper Irish and Welsh pronunciation?

I thought it was said like Sean/Shawn or Shahn. I suppose with certain accents it may have a hint of R in it. But I would not myself say it as rhyming with the way I say barn or torn. But I am in the US and I suspect those living in Ireland and Wales would not only say Sian differently than me but also say Shawn, barn, and torn differently than me. Hope you can find some expert advice.

I live in England and I've heard this name a few times, I also have a friend with this name. When people write out the pronunciation of Sian they tend to put SHAN but this is actually pronounced Sharn rhyming with barn. My friend is Irish but I've also heard the name when travelling in Wales. Maybe it's pronounced differently in America but that is how we say it in the UK.

In my accent its 'sharn' but that's because my accent doesn't emphasise "r" in the middle of a word.
The more 'global' way of trying to explain the pronunication is saying "ahhhh" - "shahn"
