Bryn is weird for a girl. It is a masculine boy's name where I live outside of the US.

Bryn = male Welsh spelling
Brynn = English female/unisex spelling
In Wales, Bryn is almost always a masculine name, though elsewhere in the English-speaking world it can be unisex as Brynn.

I've only ever heard it on a girl and I only like it on a girl, personally.

I've only ever heard it on girls, so I was honestly surprised when I voted and the results leaned boy.
This is my female cousin's name. A boy needs a strong masculine name and this is way too soft for a boy.

No matter how you spell it, it will always be a girl name to me.

There are no strong masculine names anymore. Parents of girls use every boy name. Same goes for a girl.
A girl need a a soft feminine name not a unisex name. Bryn is a masculine name.

In my part of Wales, it's masculine. I know boys and/or guys with this name; there's even a male singer named Bryn Terfel.

I promise you a name isn't ruined if girls use it. That's such a weird and kind of sexist thing to think. A girl having the name doesn't make the name any less good? Weirdos…

I live in Wales (UK). Bryn is a Welsh word and when used as a name is masculine. Parents of girls insist on taking all the softer boy names. (Americans are the worst offenders) Pretty soon all that will be left for boys are boring names like Alexander.
Bryn is NOT unisex/feminine, it IS masculine. Giving girls boy names--no matter how soft they are--says that girls' are not strong unless they hide behind a man's name. It screams you want a son rather than a daughter. Now that's sexist.

I'm surprised that the majority of people say Bryn is a boys name. I honestly didn't know that. I guess it's back to the drawing board for my little girl's name then.

Someone was committed to saying this is a boy name and voted many times. 80+ votes on one poll looks like manipulation.
In 2021, US Social Security counts were:
Bryn - Female - 137
Brynn - Female - 842
Bryn - Male - 13
Brynn - Male - 5
So in the US, it the ratio is about 54 Girls to 1 Boy. Very heavily weighted to Girl.
