Jonah vs. Jona
Hey guys, can you give a little input please. I have always loved the name Jonah it is so sweet for a small child but also works amazingly on a adult, at least in my opinion. My husband also loves the name but made a comment last night, "is the H needed or not?", I think it would work either way, but feel everybody would assume it had the H on the end - but I quite like the looks of Jona too. What do you think? Is the H needed or is it optional (think Lila vs Lilah)? My main worry with Jona is it could be said john-uh. I would also really appreciate all your thoughts on the name if possible. Thank you in advance. S.

Jonah looks much better. Jona looks feminine and would be pronounced Jon-a not Joan-a.

H is completely necessary! Love the sound and look of Jonah! Jona looks incomplete and strange.

The h makes it recognizable as a traditionally male name and will be the way people automatically spell it. I'm always a fan of using the spelling people will know, when possible.

I prefer Jonah. I knew a girl named Jona after her dad named Jon.

I would say if it's a girl then Jona may work but if it's a boy Jona would look too feminine imho.

People will inevitably spell it with an H. The only Jona I know is a woman.

Jonah needs to stay the way it's spelled from the Bible.
