Ziva vs. Zivah

I have fallen head over heels for this name. It is Hebrew meaning "radiance", "life", "light of God", "brilliance" and also has a few other very positive meanings. It is said as "Zee-vuh". But the spelling is throwing me off, I think Ziva is the most popular (correct) way to spell it however I also think it looks very pretty and feminine with the Zivah spelling. Which one do you prefer? Comments on the name are also welcome. Thank you in advance!

I think the H is completely unnecessary and has the potential to lend itself to a ZY-vh pronunciation, like Lilah.

Ziva looks better I think.
I also love Zeeva which is a Hebrew name that means wolf. :)

I thought it was two different pronunciations until i read your post. Stick with Ziva

I prefer Ziva, but because it's not very common please understand when many people think she is named after the NCIS character

Ziva is the more popular spelling, probably because the character on NCIS has her name spelled this way. In 2022, there were 180 baby girls named Ziva and 32 named Zivah. There were also 13 Zeva's and 9 Zeeva's.

I am so shocked by how fast responses werea I hadn't even considered that Zivah could be said to rhyme with Lilah, that makes absolute sense. Seems I'd be best sticking with Ziva. I haven't seen NCIS but I don't mind the name being associated with a character but will do a little further research. Thank you!

I think because Hebrew uses its own characters rather than the Roman alphabet, that it probably could be transliterated either way, like Susannah/Susanna. (Sorry I'm not a linguistics scholar.) I like the Zivah spelling and think it looks further removed from the Zika virus. Ziva is fine too, but I highly doubt anyone would mispronounce Zivah.
