Alternative to vs. Sophie
My husband loves the name Sophie and while I think it's adorable I just can't get on board with the popularity! I think we're gravitating towards names that end in the -ie sound. Some other names on our list are Goldie, Elsie, Ettie, Sylvie, Ivy and Winnie, but we also just like the soft sound of Sophie so we're open to other suggestions! What other suggestions do you have?

Love Sophie. But I get what you are saying about popularity too. Others not on your list that you might like:
Effie -- trad. nn (Euphemia, Josephine, etc.) but also the English form of Gaelic Oighrig, meaning speckled / freckled.
Afton -- It doesn't end in "-ie" but is so soft. A Scottish river. Nn Affie?
Phoebe -- lots of fun Greek mythological associations / moons
Daphne -- plant a laurel tree in her honor?
Timothea -- Any Timothys to honor? Nn Thea?
Althea -- Means "healing." Nn Attie?
Heather -- nn Hettie / Hattie?
Charity -- nn Hattie?
Charlotte -- nn Hattie? Lottie?
Good luck! :0)

I like Sophie. I do know a couple of young girls with this name, but I dont think that it is over popular. It's just a classic name.

Sophie isn't extremely popular. It's not even in the top 50 girl names. Sophia is, but Sophie is not.
