I actually know a girl whose full name is Kit. Christopher is the traditional first name for the nickname Kit

In general I think Kit is better as a nickname, but if you don't love any possible longer forms then just Kit sounds fine enough to me.

I think Kit is ok as a standalone name but it would greatly decrease the flexibility you have with a fuller name.
Full names for Kit: Christopher, Christoph, Christian, Atticus, Kingston & Patrick.

I don't think "Kit" is strong enough to stand on its own. It sort of reminds me of nicknames such as Kat/Cat and Bubba. But, if you love it, go for it.

Nickname, But I don't like it for a boy. I can hear it now the kids will be calling him kitty cat.

I never once thought of the word kitty when hearing/reading Kit until I read the above comment, so it could go either way. Even now I don't think I will permanently associate Kit and Kitty. It's nice as a full name and I don't like Christian/Christopher because of the meaning of these names.

Christopher nn Kit is my favorite. Christian and Crispin can also be full names.
