Sydney is a great name. Sidney is traditionally more used for boys, while Sydney is used for girls. Sydni is just spelled wrong.

Sydney Eden
Sydney Jayne

I’m a Sydney and I have always loved my name! I would definitely use the spelling Sydney because it is the most popular name for females (and even with that spelling a lot of people get it wrong, so I wouldn’t try and complicate it even more with the other spellings). I’ve never had any problems with teasing or anything like that, in fact I’ve always received lots of complements on my name.

I think the name is okay. Its not one of my favorites but its not bad either. If you do go with it, I would for sure spell it Sydney or Sidney. GL!

I like it, but I would go with Sydney, or maybe Sidney.

Sydney for a girl, Sidney for a boy. Other spellings are much too trendy and too cutesy IMO. GL!!

Sydney for a girl
Sidney for a boy

i love the name, but prefer it on a girl, i agree with Em, i hate any other spellings of this name, they’re far too trendy and won’t age well

My son\’s name is Sidney. Recently , my son\’s teacher told him his name was spelled wrong. I corrected him telling him it\’s spelled like Sidney Portia. I couldn\’t believe it. We researched his long before naming him. What\’s wrong with people?

My name is Sydni and I love my name. The only problem is that it is very unique and people always spell it wrong. I personally like my name, I don’t see why people think its "spelled wrong". I think it’s very graceful and unique, perfectly suiting me.

My name is Sydni, and I have literally never met another person with my name who spells it the same way. But, I personally think it’s a good and bad thing to have my
Name spelled the way it is. Good, because it’s very unique, and bad because no one ever spells it right you can never find things already monogrammed with your name. So for the sake of having cute monogrammed things, spell your child’s name a normal way, don’t try and make them unique. They will be unique enough without a crazy name to go along with it.

My daughter’s name is Cidni Grace. I specifically aimed for it to be spelled uniquely. How can we dictate a way for someone to spell THEIR name or the name they have chosen to give their child? I like the name. I am not against other spellings. I love the way my daughter’s name is spelled

I like Sydney for both boys and girls, it’s my name and I’m a girl. It really bothers me when people spell it differently, to me, its Sydney like Australia!

My daughter’s name is Sidney. Of course everybody spells it wrong. I had a friend growing up that was Sidney (girl), so I didn’t think it was odd to name a girl with that spelling.

I am a sidney yay! I don’t get why some times, mostly, always spelled ’Sydney’ there is soo many spellings of sidney, sydnee, syden, etc. Spelling is hard enough ;-; I would have to say I like my spelling of this name mostly bc it actually makes sense to spell and all :D also I find it hilarious when ppl try to spell my name XDD I’ve gotten everything from ’Sydney’ to ’syndidnee’

My name is Sydni and I have never met anyone with my name. Lots of ppl spell it wrong (for some reason, they always write my name as Syndi, which is weird). My name is also the reason I don’t own any initial or name necklaces. But hey, I like to be unique. Sydni for sure. :)
I’m Italian, and I speak it fluently, I don’t know if that has anything to do with my name though. Fully, its Sydni Morgan Caterina. I get alot of compliments of how pretty my name sounds.

When you have an unusual spelling, it’s not "unique" or "special;" it’s just a strange spelling of a common pronunciation. No biggie, except that it’s a hassle for people trying to send you a personalized anything -- card, trophy, whatever. It’s not your fault, but please don’t get huffy with people spelling it differently than your way. It’s your parents’ fault for trying to be unique by taking a common word/name and spelling it in an uncommon way. Unique would be using a one-of-a-kind name or word, not just messing with the spelling. Sydney and Sidney are both beautiful names, and other spellings are fine as long as you are tolerant and mellow about errors. I’ve found that a lot of people with weird spellings get huffy about the unique pronunciations and spellings they have to correct for the next 60 years, but as long as it’s OK with you, what’s the difference? Heck, why not spell your name as CQJRF and pronounce it "Sidney"? Nothing’s stopping you -- and that might actually be unique (rather than simply looking like your parents lacked sufficient worldliness and knowledge to properly spell your name).

Yea, I’m as girlie as they get and my parents wanted a girl but opted to spell mine Sidney. I have to admit I never loved the name, but it’s who I am as I’ve spent so many decades correcting people who presumed I was a man at the mere sight of it. Or those who took the liberty of changing the spelling out of laziness? Indifference? Ignorance?
Or, I never seem to miss that unmistakable "Oh?" when they call my name and a woman a voluptuous black woman responds.

Love the name as its my name but I spell mine Sydnie.... very different I know still to meet someone with the same spelling(that’s one of my life long goals lol. If you are looking for a different spelling than that’s a good one lol. However I will be honest it does get annoying when nobody spells your name right

I'm sidney and I'm a girl...my parents didn't really do their research. Every time someone writes my name they always spell it with a y and I was always annoyed with my parents for spelling my name with an i and I hated it for such a long time but recently I've come to realize that me being a girl and spelling it with an i has made my name a little more unique and it is truly fitting for me and I love it now.

If I had the choice to choose I would definitely keep the spelling of my name the same. It's Cute pretty and simple, Also fits me very well, I get lots of compliments on my name.

My name is spelled Sydni and I loooooove my name spelling. I'm a professional with 3 degrees working abroad and I get complimented on my name all the time. To people who think it's spelled "wrong", well, I just feel sorry for them if they can't realize the beauty in uniqueness. Practically every last name in America was originally spelled a different way. Language is fluid and if people vehemently defend the "proper" spelling of things as transitory as common name spelling, then they need a history lesson.

My name is Sidney, and I'm a 73 yr. old man. People have written my name as Sydney for many years, but I don't mind. I think it is gender neutral. Doesn't matter at this point eh?
