Ciel vs. Cielle

Hi, my boyfriend and I are expecting a baby girl in a few months. We both fell in love with the name Ciel (means Sky in French). We were thinking of writing it Cielle ( we are both French Canadian and adding LE sort of makes forget the reference to the sky). What do you think?

I love it but think Cielle makes it more feminine. However, I think its going to become popular due to Nikki Taylor giving her daughter that name.

It’s a beautiful name no matter how you spell it, but I think Ciel would be pronounced "seel." I think Cielle would be pronounced correctly, and it looks more femine!

Cielle, the ’elle’ part looks pretty. And anglos would pronounce correctly with the LE. Because Ciel could be mispronounced as ’seal’.

I think you would still retain the ’sky’ meaning. Look at the name Skye, it is spelled differently too.

either way is fine, i think Cielle looks for feminine but if Ciel is the word then maybe it would be better to spell it like that, i suppose it’s the same as Sky and Skye, it’s true that Cielle is better so that people say it right

Hey what about Cielo? It means Sky or Heaven in Spanish, and I think it’s gorgeous. Plus it’s easier to pronounce than Ciel and less trendy than Cielle.

Hi my name is Cielle and I’m a girl. I feel like naming your kid Cielle will bring it great in the world . Also, you can nickname them CL( that’s what I do in school because my teachers can’t spell or read it )

Hi! I named my daughter Cielle 5 years ago. We love it even though people struggle to pronounce it. She learnt earlier on to spell it because everyone asked twice and she tells them it means I’m from Heaven! ❤️

I named MY girl Cielle! She’s 11 now, and it does get mispronounced (in the u.s.), but she likes that it means "heaven" or "blue sky" .. cause she’s my angel sent from there! <3

Hi my name is Cielle and I love it!!!! Couldn't think of a better name. People mispronounce it all the time but after I tell them, they never forget it. I love my name and its just beautiful :)

My name is cielle. my mom added the "le" for easier pronunciation for Americans. I love my name.
