Zulay (Pro: Zoo Lie) vs. Cute? vs. Not cute?

Hello, we want to use this name for our Ethiopian daughter who we will be bringing to the US very shortly. Meaning is "The Heavens" or "Brilliant". It is an African name. What do you think of it?

Unfortunately it will be mispronounced as zoo-lay all the time. I’m sure that would get annoying.

Why don’t you give her a more American name so she can fit in better and so pp won’t mispronounce it all the time? Why not use Zulay as a mn? It would be a great way to still honor her culture. GL! :)

I agree w/pp: I love the meaning, but it will always be mispron. You could change the sp to Zulie, but I don’t know if it will have the same "meaning" for you...

I disagree about giving her a more American name to fit in...I would just choose an easier African one. GL!!

Zulay would make a great mn. Or spelling it Zulie, as mentioned above, is very cute for a fn.

Personally, I would give her an English/American sounding first name with an African middle name.

I think that there are a lot of very beautiful Ethiopian names, but I don’t care for this one.

Zahara, Zariah, and Zaria are all African names that will most likely not be mispronounced.

Zahara is cutish. Zulay is wierd imo. I dont understand the importance of her havin an ethiopian name, but if u wanna............your baby gl!
