is it for a girl?
girl-Lauclyn (Lauclynn) or Lauklyn (Lauklynn)
I do like those spellings.
What do you think?

I’m really interested in naming my daughter Lochlanne. I know it’s traditionally for a boy, but something about it really stands out to me for a girl. Her whole name would be Lochlanne Maine Rae. Would it really be that big of a problem?

I’m Lauchlin, a female in my 50’s. Hardly anyone knows it’s a male name; my mother liked it so much she didn’t care. I didn’t like it when I was younger, but I’ve gotten used to it over the years.

Our 2.5 yr old grand daughter is named Lauklyn. I love it and .... it’s her. Suits her perfectly. I know girls named Ryan, Daryl, Charlee. It’s a name and they grow to own it.

If your going to use a Gaelic name you really need to know what your using. Lachlan pronounced Laek’lund is correct. Lochlin means pirate, raider or Viking.

I’m Lauchlin Steven Cook born in Canada in 81 and Lauchlin as a first name has been passed to the first born son of each generation to my knowledge since my great grandfather. That’s 5 generations to the best of my knowledge. My family is from Scotland and supposedly landed in Trinity Bay Newfoundland.

We went with the traditional spelling of the name for our son, Lachlan Alexander.

We say Lacklan not Lochlan and it is spelt Lachlan if feel like my last name McLachlan it has lost translation. My Grandpa was Gaelic from Glasgow Scotland and he had a lovely accent. He was very frustrated with our last name as he would be corrected in Australia. I love to say our last name how my Grandfather taught me. Believe me it's a challenge. My son is Lachlan pronounced Lacklan. Very hard to say it like that in Australia.

My 17yo son is Lachlan and I chose the traditional spelling to keep us connected with our Scottish ancestors. Love the name and he (mostly) does too.
