I’ve only heard it on boys.

It’s quite common in Minnesota, North Dakota, and other states with big Scandinavian populations.

Well I’m having a boy but I didn’t want a girly name for him. But I still don’t know.

Origionally it was a boys name, but its pretty so you could get away with it easily for a girl. Its uncommon enough that people wont assume either gender and it wont be seen as either a boys name or strictly a girls name.
Id say you could go for it no matter what

I like the name Soren for a girl and a boy but I have only really heard it as a girl so far (unless you count a male budgie!) I am working on a novel at the moment and the main female character is Soren (Pronounced Loren but with an S not an L)

Soren was a general and commander of Persian Empire Army during the 1st century BC, He was a member of the House of Suren and was best known for defeating the Romans in the Battle of Carrhae. Under his command Parthians decisively defeated a numerically superior Roman invasion force under the command of Marcus Licinius Crassus. It is commonly seen as one of the earliest and most important battles between the Roman and Persian empires and one of the most crushing defeats in Roman history.Soren means :strong and exalted

A wrong number was texting me and s/he said their name was Soren. All along I thought it was a girl, but later realized it could be a boy too.
If you’re wondering, I replied with "Was your mother out of ideas when she named you?" I was completely joking, I think it’s a nice name.

It's a popular Scandinavian name that is most definitely masculine. The closest to a feminine version I have heard is my old college roomate's name, Soraya.
