I would think Aylee was eye-lee. But thats probably because I know an Aylee who pronounces her name that way. Your pronounciation makes sence, so go for it!

I dont like either. Aylee (the spelling) looks made up and Eilidh would never get pronunced right. Maybe use one or the other as a mn. Charlotte Aylee, Lorelai Aylee, Elisabeth Eilidh, Alexis Eilidh?

Definitely Aylee, Aylie, or Ailey. It’s a very cute name! I think Eilidh would be mispronounced ALL the time, and your daughter would constantly be having to correct people on the pronunciation and spelling. I wouldn’t want my daughter having to do that her whole life. I love the sound of the name, and I think Aylee/Aylie/Ailey are much better spellings!

Is gaelic name. idh is pronounced ee. We’re Scottish and it’s a traditional family name. Would be nice if people could be a bit more open minded and less aggressively critical. Constructive critiscism is fine and appreciated if you don’t like it.

I would definitely use Aylee. The name looks and sounds cute spelled that way. The other way is too confusing and jumbled.

I would have never known how to pronounce Eilidh if you had not given the phonetic spelling. Aylee!

If people where you live know how to pronounce it, the traditional spelling is fine. However, if asked, I would pronounce the first one like "eyelid" so if you’re in international situations much you might want to use the "Aylee" spelling.

While some people would be able to pronounce Eilidh at first most people won’t
The spelling might also be an issue
Though once people get how to spell and say Eilidh it won’t be too big of an issue
Go with the spelling you like

I’m Scottish but live overseas. We gave our daughter Eilidh as her middle name because I’m a stickler for the original spelling but didn’t want her to have to explain or correct pronunciation of her first name all the time. There are too many made up spellings of names IMO!!!

Eilidh! Its my name and I adore it, even if im constantly correcting people’s spelling/pronunciation. People tend to pick up the correct spelling/pronunciation quite quickly after its explained. Its quite a common name in the part of Scotland Im from and Ive never seen it spelled any other way.

Okay my caps are fine now but I know I’m way too late and all that but I just want to say that girls with cute names were really mean to me at school. It annoys me why people have similar names and I’m greatful to be the only Eilidh my friends have ever met. It means that you become the definition of your own name and nobody gets confused about: Emily B? Wait no are you Emily T? NO! I’m Lucy, Emily R’s TWIN!!! But yes Eilidh forever

I live in New Zealand and we have named our daughter Aylee after a close Scottish friend of mine Eilidh. If we were living in Scotland I would have spelt it Eilidh, but because we’re in NZ we decided to go with Aylee. We get 95% positive reactions to the name. Some people think its weird I guess, but most think its sweet.

My name is Eilidh and although I love it whenever I’m introducing myself to people they always mishear he and think I am called Hayley or Ailleen which gets annoying as Eilidh, Hayley and Ailleen are common names where I live. I’d never change my name though as its cool to have an u common name unlike Sarah for instance, and it also reminds me of my Scottish upbringing

My name is Eilidh and whenever I see an alternate spelling of my name (Aylee, Ailee, Aileigh, ect.) I want to throw up a bit. People can learn to pronounce my name, and I’m a lot more memorable. I don’t usually get asked what my name is, I just get asked how to say it. I do get called Hailey and Edith a lot, but I just correct the person and that’s it. I wouldn’t want to change my name, and I would never change the spelling. Eilidh is the way it was originally spelled, spelling it any other was would be destroying it’s identity in a way. Eilidhs forever!

My 8 year old granddaughter’s name is Eilidh. She seems to enjoy the name. And once people understand how it’s spelled, that it’s a Scottish name, and how you pronounce it, they never forget her. Yes, people often mispronounce her name, but it’s no different than what it was for me as a kid named Meg (before Meg Ryan, and all the girls named Megan), to have been called Mary, May, Marge, Madge,Mabel, etc. Eilidh is a beautiful Scottish name to be proud of.

My name is Eilidh and I've traveled/lived in many places. It is exhausting constantly explaining your name and how to spell it. It's infuriating how dumb people are! You say 'Ay-lee' and 9/10 they go 'Ellie? Edith?' but as soon as you say 'Hayley' they are like ooooh Hayley! and then you go yes but without the 'H' and its back to ...Ellie?
I love the sound of my name but it's difficult to love the spelling when I don't even speak Gaelic. I would like to start a little design business but 'Eilidh' would never be spelled right while a lot of people seem to think i'm stuck up if i spell it 'Aylee', like i'm trying to be edgy and cool.
I'm not really complaining i'm just bored so I thought i'd comment and share how I feel. I am grateful for my name but man alive once you get 50 miles outside your hometown it's difficult.
