I like Jackson and Jaxon. I prefer Jaxon with the nn Jax instead of Jackson with the nn Jack. GL!

We are naming our son Jackson with the nn Jax.

We had wished to use the nn Jax, so we thought using the traditional spelling might seem strange... thoughts?

Thank you for all the helpful posts!

I thought the same thing when we were deciding. Someone told me this and made it clear for me though...Michael’s go by Mike. Those spellings are exactly the same. Same as William’s going by Bill.

So who says Jackson’s can’t go by Jax. Plus there won’t be 50 others Jax’s in his kindergarden class.

Either Jackson or Jaxon.

The "s" in Jaxson seems redundant to me.

Jax is a fine nn for all three.

Best wishes! :)

aren’t exactly the same, not are.

we know the name itself is fairly common, but we like that as one of the posters said there won’t be 50 other Jax’s in his class

If you want to call him Jax, you can still name him Jackson so he has a good professional name when he’s older too. Think of other names with short forms:
Jacob-Jake
Nicholas-Nick
Jason-Jace
Zachary-Zack
and of course, Jack is also a nn for John...

Jackson nn Jax, if you must use it, but Jack is a nicer nn.

Hi! I am expecting my 3rd child, 2nd son, in March and I too like the name Jackson very much. In my fmaily it is a tradition for a name, whether first or middle, to be passed down to a newborn. My grandfather’s last name is Jackson...but I really like the spelling of JAXON. I really like Jaxon’s meaning too...’God has been gracious, he has shown favor’...and the meaning truly fits my situation since my husband and didn’t we were going to be able to have anymore children. Like you...I like the NN Jax, not Jack. I hope this helps and Good Luck!!

Jaxson or Jaxon with nn of Jax. Jackson nn seems like it should be Jack. Just my opinion. I like Jaxson!

I\\\’ve been thinking about these names as well...with the full name written out, I think Jackson looks the best, but I really don\\\’t like the nn Jack - because my baby won\\\’t be a baby boomer :)

I\\\’d like to emphasize the \\\’x\\\’, for a nn of Jax...my wife prefers Jaxson, I like Jaxon. Either way, I think the later two are much more contemporary.

To me, \\\’Jack\\\’ is to a boy what \\\’Gertrude\\\’ is to a girl. Should use a more modern variation like \\\’Gretchen\\\’ or \\\’Trudy\\\’.

I like Jaxson for nn Jax.

I like the name Jaxson. It seems to flow better to me. Jackson seems a little older and outdated and Jaxon is too two syllable-ish if that makes any sense. When I see jaxon i see it as jax-on... two different words. Jaxson flows a lot better and Jax is more 21st century then Jack.

My baby will be born in two weeks. Daddy and I chose Jaxson. Not going with Jackson because we don’t want anyone calling him Jack. Although people call you what you tell them to call you! Jaxson it is for us! Jaxson Connor

I am due in a little over 2 weeks and we will be naming our little guy Jaxson. I love the name, I think the spelling is unique. Its not a very popular name and I’d confide Jackson to be more of a middle out last name. I love the name Jaxson.

my sons name is Jaxson . and a lot of people look at it like its the most ridiculous way to spell Jackson . Ive never met someone named Jackson and it be spelled the same way I spell my sons . I think its unique .

I named my newborn son Jaxon and am very happy with my decision! Jackson is too old school and the meaning of Jackson (the son of jack) didn’t work in my family as dad’s name isn’t jack. The meaning of Jaxon is perfect for what my son really is

My son Jaxon is 20 days old we chose this spelling due to the meaning "God has been gracious" as he was born with 2 knots in his umbilical cord. Also much prefer "Jax" to "Jack".
posted by kyta :: 10 years ago | report
Jaxson would be pronounced "jax-son" because it has two s-sounds in it. It’s pretty redundant really. Jackson has an S because obviously there’s no S sound in "jack"

My grandpa was Jack and I’m Jaclyn.. I don’t have a "k", so my son doesn’t but is still named after both of us. And he still gets called Jack but it’s ok. #jaxsonakajax

Sorry, but Jackson (the only proper spelling) is actually a surname.

I like Jaxon its derived from john or jaques. The name meaning for Jaxon is "God has been gracious (has shown favour). Plus the nickname of Jax is obviously the most related to the actual name Jaxon.

I jus wanted to say that ppl are going to spell the babys name wrong either way. It happens all the time. They may even pronounce it wrong. My sons name is Jaxton....you have to pronounce the "t"...jax-ton. But ppl mispronounce and call him what sounds like jackson. Drives me nuts because thats not his name..his name is Jaxton..totally different. JAX-TON. lol.

We named our son Jaxon and I love it! He is now 5 and loves his name. I don’t care for the spelling of Jaxson the X makes an s sound and not needed but to each their own

My boy is Jaxson. Named him that because I love it. I like Jackson too. Not a fan of Jaxon at all.

I named my son jaxson, original I was going to spell it jaxon but my father suggested that I break the names in to syllables then sound it out a jax on just didn’t sound right I think the s is needed..... An unfortunately people with still call your boy Jack

My son was born last year and I called him jaxon. I live in london and the name is very rare here especially with that spelling. I love it.

We just named our boy Jaxson, absolutely love the name. As his dad Jason, couldn’t resist putting the ’s’ in & definitely seems to flow better

Ok my name is Jaxson and my nnames include Jax and Jack
posted by Jaxson :: 8 years ago | report
The letter x in English is pronounced as either an s or a ks, so the xs spelling of Jaxson is redundant. Also, the meaning of Jaxon being floated about here is really the same meaning as Jackson, because 1. Jackson and Jaxon are variant spellings of the same name and 2. the meaning given for Jaxon is the same as that for John, which is where the nickname Jack comes from.
