"BUD" vs. nickname only vs. NEED IDEAS!!!
Need your help! I really like the nickname "Bud" for a boy...but I can’t find a fuller, more formal name to give him. I don’t think it exists! I will not just name him Bud, and definitely not Buddy. Any ideas are welcome. Thank you!!!

I really cant think of too much. I know a Bradley who goes by Bud. I would say that any name starting with Bu or starting with a B and having a d in it would work as the full name. GL!

I went to school with a Buddy I thought it was nice. Do you like:
Budd English: Thickset person
Or do what we did I wanted to call my little guy "Cub" so we named him Jacob just turn Cob/Cub into bud and you know what no matter what a boy gets named he can and is most likely called bud or buddy anyway I always call little boys bud.

Either go with Bradley or pick a name you really like and call him Bud. Bud could work for any name.

I’m beginning to think you are right!!! That "BUD" is a nickname...with no connection to a formal name. I would still love to hear about all the BUDs you know, as well as their formal names. Thanks for the comments so far. Again, I would love to hear any ideas you all have!

My son’s name is Noah Colby. I have called him my "Little Buddy" since he was born. He is two now, and I call him Bud a lot as a shorter version of his nickname.

I have been called Bud my whole life and my real name is Alfred. I am a third generation Alfred. My grandfather was called Bud as well. We are originally from Switzerland. I never gave much thought to the nickname until I ran into an old German lady and introduced myself to her as Bud. She asked, \"Is your real name Alfred?\" She then told me Bud is a German nickname for Alfred. I went home and Googled Alfred Bud and a ton of Alfred Buds showed up with German last names.

My dad was always called Bud, his given name was Arthur. I was told when he was a baby (in 1925) his nurse maid said "he was as cute as a little rise bud" Stuck with him all his life!

I have an uncle who is Always, Always called Bud.
His name is Issac-like I said, no connection.
We also know a little boy named Ryan who is always called Bubba.
I’d give up searching and just pick a name you love.
