Arabella vs. Yes Pretty vs. No Ugly

I have fallen in love with the Arabella. Is it ok to use a name so girly? Im worried about giving my daughter a "girly label" before she’s even born. Is there any tom-boyish nicknames for Arabella she could fall back on if she doesnt turn out to be a girly-girl? Maybe a more uni-sex middle name will work well. I dont know. Can you help? I would really like to keep the first name as Arabella. Sorry if Im asking to much. Thank you very much.

I love Arabella. Its very pretty and feminine. If your afraid it might be too frilly, a similar name with a tomboyish nn is Aurora nn Rory.

Arabella- pretty

nicknames:
if shes not a girly girl, she probably wouldnt wanna be called bella, but what about ari? its usually used as a nickname for ariana but it could work here.

i think arabella grace is pretty, but since you want something more unisex and less girly for the middle name, then grace is not the right choice. here are some options with less girly choices:
arabella hayden
arabella quinn
araballa shayne
arabella jordin
arabella noah
arabella cameron
arabella ryan
arabella zane
arabella kadence
arabella kasey
arabella hunter
arabella reese
arabella rowan
arabella riley
arabella renee (yes, i do know a boy named renee)

if you change your mind and want to go with something girly afterall for the middle name, i like:
arabella rose
arabella lily
arabella rebekah
arabella clare
arabella sophia
arabella nichole
arabella kayla
arabella alexis
arabella felicity
arabella vivienne
arabella kathrynn
arabella roan
arabella hope
arabella faith
arabella grace
arabella rachel

my favorite is actually from the unisex column though, its arabella quinn. i hope you find a name that satisfies your expectations and gl with the baby girl

Arabella, I love it! :) And Congrats!
Maybe a few suggestions for a tomboyish nickname would be:
Abe
Belle
Ara
or
Arabe?
And for a middle name maybe:
Dani
Sam/Sami/Samy
Taylor
Cameron
or
Casey?
GL! :]

That’s wonderful that you’re considering this! So many people name their daughters things like Kensi and Everleigh without considering the fact that such names only suit a certain type of person.

I think Arabella is a great name, and while it’s certainly feminine, it’s not overly flowery. Ari is a great nickname, and would work as well on a little girl as on an adult. Pair Arabella with a classic, maybe one-syllable, middle name, and you’ll be good to go! Something not too flowery, such as:

Arabella Jane
Arabella Greer
Arabella Lynn
Arabella Neve
Arabella Kate
Arabella Claire
Arabella Maeve
