Names like Sophie vs. Plz

Hey! I am 8 mo pregnant and need baby name. I was set on naming my baby girl Sophia, but I kept the name a secret from my famiy. My aunt just finalized the adoption of a baby girl, and her name is Sophie. My aunt announced this a couple days ago and says she loves the name and won’t be changing it. Therefore, I need a new name for my girl. This is my first child, but it needs to work with the names Brad, Brendan and Carrie. (cousins) I would love a name similar to Sophie or maybe something a little less common. Thanks! -Meghan

Sophie has a soft, feminine sound. It’s also fairly simple (in a good way) sweet. Other names with these qualities:

Why don’t you go with something like Sophie Anne, Sophia Rose? There can be a Sophie and a Sophie Anne (or Sophianne) in the same family. Cousins with the same name or a similar name are not uncommon. I would also say there’s no need to limit yourself to names that ’work’ with cousins’ names... Unless you live in the same house as one family, each family can have its own individuality, within a greater family.

Josie or Izzy are adorable. Josephine or Isabella would be pretty proper names. Its nothing like Sophie but I’ve always liked Hollis too. GL!

The name doesn\’t really need to work with her cousins, I just added them in b/c the name can\’t be exactlly the same. I\’m considering asking my aunt I\’d her daughter would be nn Sophie or go by Sophia all the time. Having a Sophie and a Sophia in the same family doesn\’t seem too bad, does it?
