Noah is a masculine name meaning rest and comfort. However, Noa is also a legitimate feminine name in Hebrew meaning movement, motion. They both sound the same in English unfortunately so it would be easy to get the two mixed up. Using it typically only works in a predominantly Jewish community.

I really hope Noah doesn’t become unisex.
Apparently Noa is the female version, but it’s pretty rare in English speaking areas.

I agree with the above poster. Making Noah unisex is horrible. It’s such a handsome boy name, a name I have been considering for my first son until all of these parents decided that boy names on girls would be "cute".

I’ve met a little girl Noah-with the h.
I think we all just need to face it, no boy names are safe from the girls....Whether we like it or not.

It won’t be long and people will be making names like Robert and Joshua into girls’ names. It’s getting ridiculous!

I agree. It’s getting very ridiculous. I saw a post where someone wanted to name their daughter Jacksyn. It’s really horrible for the little girls who have to grow up with boy names, and the little boys who are all of a sudden getting teased because a girl has their name.

Noah to me is a boy’s name, there are just a lot of people out there who try to make boy names into girl names. I’ve seen a post on here of someone trying to turn my son’s name Chase into a girl’s name and I was irritated by that since I chose this name not to be unisex. If I see Noah I DEFINITELY think BOY!

I LOVE Chase on a girl. Sorry. I just don\’t see it as being all that masculine. As for NOA being a unisex name....it is not. It is a strait up girls name. IN FACT Noah the boys name is actually pronounced NOAK in Hebrew. No ah is the way that Noa is pronounced....who stole whos name???

I plan to name my daughter Noah, and I think it is great move. My husband’s name is Noah. With so many new generation boys being named Noah, I think it’s safe to say my daughter will be just fine without the gendered name constraints. :)
