Hey! Abigail here. :)
Pretty much two people in the world call me Abigail - my doctor and my Grandpa.
I’ve gone by Abbie my whole life. I know a girl who’s parents named her just Abbie Lee, and it works for her. I like having a longer, fancier name to put on official documents and doodle in cursive, but either way, the name works out just fine. People always misspell my name Abby, that’s the most common spelling. I used to wish I spelled it Abby, but I like -ie better. Not so much Abbey, but it’s nice.
Anyway, feel free to ask anything else about the name! I recommend it. :)

Thanks Abigail(Abbie), we’re probably leaning towards putting Abigail on her birth certificate which gives her the freedom to have a more professional name later in life. It’s good to know that that is your name but nearly everyone calls you Abbie which is probably what’s going to happen to our Abbie.
I think we also prefer the Abbie spelling, it’s so cute and yes the ie just looks nicer to us. Probably because the old fashioned nn are coming back in fashion, like Rosie, Millie, Josie etc it is cute and simple.

You’re so welcome! No problem, glad I could help. My mom chose the -ie spelling because her name is Natalie, so it just looked better to her. And I love that old-fashioned names are coming into style, when I was born it was all about the Jessicas and Ashleys, and I love the names with history and class. :) Like mine! Haha.

I love Abby (spelled like this). I think it’s adorable. Abigail is pretty and she could go by it if she doesn’t care for Abby when she’s older. I don’t think giving her the full name Abby would be bad though, since that’s what she’ll be called most of the time. And like you said, similar names are coming back in style. GL with whatever you choose.

My name is spelled Abbie, I know almost nobody spelled the same as me. I hate how whenever I type my name the computer says it is spelled wrong. What I do love is the uniqueness of the spelling.
