Mason (for a girl) vs. It’s cute vs. You’re crazy
my husband mentioned the name Mason for a girl- we both think it’s too feminine for a boy- and I really like it. I know that’s not the common thought on using Mason for a girl on this site but I still wanted outside input. What do you think about using the name Mason for a girl?

It would be cute for a girl, but if I saw the name, I’d automatically assume that Mason was a boy.

I agree I think boy especially since -son is son of. I think its cute, but definitely wouldn’t do it. What about Macey or ive also seen a girl spelling it Maison.

How about a more feminine spelling? Like Masyn? Maisyn? Maison? Maeson? or Maesyn?

Maysen.
Just because it ends in -son which means son of doesn’t mean it can’t be used on a girl. Addison. Madison. All popular on girls.

I think it’s cute. I would spell it Mason, other variations just look contrived to me. But I would be prepared for everyone thinking she’s a boy if they just see her name.

I have never seen a female with Mason and would also think boy right away. As an earlier poster stated Macy or Madison are great names and sound very similar to Mason. Good luck

I don’t think there is anything remotely feminine about the name Mason...I do like the name, but for a boy. You could change the spelling but I do think she will fight her whole life with people assuming she’s a boy. GL!

Mason is very very very feminine.
May-sen is how its pronounced not May-son. Either way May is very girly. The soft, short vowels!

I chose Addison for my daughter, bc it was a feminine boys name, now every little girl I meet is Addison!!! But as for Mason, Id spell it like Mayson for a more girly feel. Good Luck!

lol My husband suggested the same name for our daughter (while he was busy canning food in Mason jars). I said maybe... ;) I think I would keep the spelling as is, or Masyn at most.

I like it for a girl. I actually taught a girl named Mason last year and I know it is most commonly a boy name but I never associated it with her that way. Very sweet!

my daughter\\\’s name is maysen and she is the most feminine girls I know and always has been. I am ashamed that adults would post such cruel comments on any name and I pray my daughter never stumbles upon such negativity. You should all be ashamed.

Mason is such a cute name. I want to name my daughters (im having triplets.) mayson austynn and devynn but I’m afraid when I decide to have another child whether it be boy or girl. What am I gonna do. Name the boy a more feminine name or what? Like I love the names kinleigh mayleigh and oakleigh. I just don’t know anymore. Naming is really hard. So I name my triplets devynn austynn and mayson. Will is be weird if I name my future child say it a girl an I name her kinleigh. Will it be weird. I need suggestions.

Maddie I love the first idea i love all 3 names for girls... the 2nd idea is great as well. I just had a baby girl on 11/22/13 & I named her Maisyn Marie. ♡ everyone has different opinions i happen to love unisex names for girls such as adrianne, jordyn, devyn, dalys, austyn & so on

I have a 17 year old daughter, her name is Mason Elizabeth. I feel it is a very strong and empowering name, but also very soft. She is beautiful. Yes, her name is often mistooken for a boys name, but she also loves being unique. Her and her identical twin sister, Morgan, have been approached with modeling contracts, features in oudoor magazines for athletic cloths, speak at public venues and such. She loves having a strong name and her features and appearance is what softens it and makes it feminine. She constantly gets compliments on her name and how pretty it sounds.

We named all our daughters with names traditionally considered as boys' names - Jordyn Ashlea (now 31), Mayson Sheridyn (now 27) & Connor Spencer (now 24)...all beautiful, amazing, strong and independent young women...I couldn't imagine them with any other names
