Long Name vs. For Rue
Hi, I’m Wendy. My husband Scott and I are expecting a daughter in June. We met at our community theatre’s production of Hamlet. He was Hamlet and was Ophelia’s understudy. I wanted to name her Rue, it being the flower Ophelia gives to herself after she falls into insanity. But Scott wants her to have a longer, more feminine name. We don’t really like Ruth or Ophelia itself. Any ideas for longer names that Rue could be used as nickname for?

i like the name Rue by itself. i think it is cute and it is feminine. i think it is perfect on its own. :)

she is hamlet’s mother in the play and I think Rue is a cute nickname. I really love old fashion names and they seem to be getting popular again so I think Gertrude is a cute choice

There is a popular book series called The Hunger Games and one of the girls is named Rue (after the flower). I think it is a really cute nick name. That being said, perhaps it could be short for Aruna or even Aurora.
My good friend has a brother named Robert and his family calls him Roo.
