Girl version vs. of vs. David???

Me and my husband are expecting a daughter and she will be the only child we ever have due to health complications. We always planned on naming our son after my husbands uncle, who raised him and who my husband considers to be his role model. That was always the plan. But now we have found out its a girl, and although we don’t mind, we would still like to honour the uncle. Do you have any suggestions on how to put a feminine twist on David??? Thanks for any input - Katie

What about his middle name is it usable or his initals or use David as a middle name...

Well you could have her name start with a D like Danielle Destiny Danica Darcy or you can name her DAvida its a legitimite name as is Davette and Davita I got them from http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/similarity_of_David.html GL

The uncles full name is David Shaun Adams. Does that help at all. Thanks for the input so far, great help :)

There are lots of ways to do this.

First, you could try to keep the sound of the name, but with a feminine feel.

Davida (prn. Da-Vee-da w/ emphasis on the vee part)
Davia (prn. Dave-ee-ah w/ emphasis on the Dave part)
Davina
Or you could go the meaning route. David means "Beloved"

All this input is really appreciated! Thanks. At the moment we are leaning towards Davia with a mn that is NOT associated with David. We are also considering using a fn that has a nm of Davie, any ideas?

I went to school with girls named Shawn and Cody both named after males! I think it’s great! Nothing wrong with it the way it is! Changing it is really is pointless, because it’s no longer the same name (and all of the variations sound a little corny...) I think David would be adorable paired with a VERY GIRLY middle name such a Grace. For a nickname Davie would be really cute! Stick with it! It’s a great way to honor the uncle:) Good Luck

We named my daughter Ayvi. Pronounced Davy without the D in honor of my brother in law David.
