Molly vs. Mollie

We want to use Molly/Mollie, but can’t decide on how to spell it. I normally don’t like alternative spellings, but I’ve known enough Mollies that it seems to be an acceptable one, and we might like it better. Which spelling is best and why? Thanks!

I like Mollie. I prefer Hollie to Holly, Katie to Katy. For some reason, "ie" endings look more feminine. Have you got a middle name?

Thanks! We are thinking either Elise or Grace for the middle name. Does Mollie Elise look/flow okay?

Mollie Elise is gorgeous. Although Molly Elise looks better to me, despite me preferring the "ie" ending. It just looks like there’s too many Is and Es otherwise. But it’s not bad. Mollie Elise sounds divine. Mollie Grace to me doesn’t sound as pretty.

Mollie Elise is amazing! I really like the \"ie\" endings

I like Molly. It just looks nicer to me. Also, since it’s the more common spelling, you’d avoid people spelling it wrong. I have a name with an acceptable spelling that differs from the norm, and even though it’s still a somewhat common spelling, I cannot stand it because people are always forgetting how I spell it and still spell it wrong.

My name is mollie:) I think it’s a very feminine name and spelling- therefore I prefer it to Molly. My second name is rose {mollie rose} named after my great nanny Rosemary. Mollie Elise sounds beautiful:) my nicknames are Mol, Mols and occasionally Mo. Hope this helped even though I’m about 5 years late lols

I know this is an old thread but I just had to comment. I named my little girl Mollie. I used an "ie" because that is what was on my grandmother’s birth certificate. She is named after my great grandmother, Mollie Elizabeth. When searching names during that era, Mollie was used with the "ie" spelling a lot more than you realize. I love the name. She does too. It is such a happy name and she is 6 years old now.

My wife gave me the privilege of naming our daughter and I have always liked Mollie Louise.
Since then I have found out 3 of my friends have named their girls Mollie.

Mollie is better than Molly,
Even though you have to specify "ie" I wouldn't change it as I think it looks better on records and molly looks like a dogs name!
