Milly vs. Millie

Hello! I was just wondering if Milly was sufficient for a full first name? I do not like Amelia and all the names that can have this NN but I do love Millicent (yes I know all the rude comments that are swarming in your heads right now so please keep those to yourself). I cant help what I like right? Your non negative thoughts? Advice?

If you only plan to call her Milly, then just name her that. I think it can stand alone--just like Lilly.

I like it as a nn but not as a fn. I don’t think it works well as a professional adult. I think you could just pick another name and use it as a nn. My nn is not related to my name at all. GL

HI! Congratulations about your daughter!

Yes, I know plenty of children named Millie, (though admittedly none named Millicent!) and I myself am Madeleine, called MELLY. (meh-lee)

That is another less common but still cute name, if I do say so myself! :)

I definetly prefer MILLIE to MILLY and would probably work as a first name but for a business woman someday, perhaps a more sophisticated and/or proffessional name?

Just a thought~

I love it as a nickname, and think it’s just ok as a stand alone name.

I do sort of like Millicent. I also like Camille, Camilla, Matilda, Melinda, Madeleine and Romilda as full names for Millie

Millie is cute but I do feel like it should be short for a more formal name.I would actually go with Millicent with the nickname Millie.
I don’t hate it all.In my opinion it fits right in with names like Eleanor and Matilda that are so popular right now.

I know a Lawyer named Molly, so I don’t think Milly is very unproffessional - atleast no more or less ’unproffenssional’ than Molly.

I like it as a fn with the spelling Milly. I also have a friend called Millie-Beth, so if you’re open to double names Millie- something, could be nice.

Just wondering, but what is wrong with Millicent? I have a Millicent and have never had anyone say anything negative.
