Bronte vs. ???
Hey, I really like the name Bronte (as in Charlotte Bronte) for my little girl. I have always thought that it sounded feminine and pretty but a friend recently told me she though it sounded masculine and more like a dogs name! What do you think? MN will be Sophia and surname is Halley. Thanks!

I’ve always thought it sounded very masculine and I agree with the first poster that it doesn’t flow well with Halley.

Bronte does not sound good with your last name. I do not think you want to hear anything negative though, so name her what you like and people will say something nice once she is here. For some reason they feel it is fair game (in your best interest) to give their opinion while you are pregnant.

Bronte is not a first name. It you want to name your child after Charlotte Bronte, go with Charlotte. If you don’t like Charlotte try one of the other sister’s name. Good Luck!

She will mostly be using her first and last name together and they do not go (Bronte Halley). Sophia is great. If your last name was Bronte and the first name was Halley that would be way better. I’m sure that is what most people will call her by mistake her whole life until she gets married (which she will marry ASAP) to get rid of this curse.

Bron-tay I would presume :) and I personally think that Bronte Halley sounds fine :) I have a friend with the surname Halley and its NOT pronounced the same as the girls name hayley, like everyone on here seems to think! it rhymes with sally!

I think it’s the e sound of the first name and (if it rhymes with Sally) e sound of the second name that people dont really like. I’ve always thought of Bronte as Bron-tee, so the names do kind of clash, in my opinion. But I think Bronte is a gorgeous name, so if you love it then go for it!
