That is so mean. So a mom decides to name her daughter a boy’s name... does that make it suddenly a unisex name or a girl’s name. No. Would you name your son Charlotte? Sue? Mary? Bet not.

Adding a feminine middle name still doens’t take away from the fact that Evan is a boy’s name. Most people in life will never even know or hear her middle name, so people will always think she has a boy’s name.

If you plan to name a girl Evan, it should ONLY be as a middle name. That way she won’t have to go through life explaining her name, having her name end up on the wrong list, etc. The posters who mentioned that it’s a boy’s name are right on.

Evan is all boy. What about Evelyn nn Evan or Evie (pn eh-vee)?

I agree, Evan does NOT work on a girl. The poster who said she’ll just be Evan and most people won’t even know the feminine mn is completely right.
Please leave this awesome boy name to the boys!!

Evan is a girl’s name too. I actually prefer it on a girl.
Evan Clare would be gorgeous!

I plan on calling her both. Like the actress Evan Rachel Wood. My older daughter’s mn is Claire otherwise that would be perfect! I’m leaning towards Evan Lilly right now.

if you plan on calling her both, a short name would be a good idea

Evan Rose
Evan Grace
Evan Lynn
Evan Mae
Evan Kate

I love all of those posted above by previous poster! Evan Rose is so cute! And Evan Kate. Maybe name her Evan Katherine and call her Evan Kate!

My name is "Evan". It is short for Evangeline. I was always always a "tomboy", so the nickname my parents picked work, but say she isn’t! That is why I feel bad for all the girl Ryan’s out there!

I remember the original poster asking for suggestions not opinions on whether you thought it was for a boy or girl. Many many names that used to be strictly masculine are now very typically feminine now. Ashley, Kimberly, Shannon, Kelly, Sydney etc.. **** changes get over it.

My daughters' names are Ryan and Evan...Both are listed as neutral on multiple name sites. I've only ever had compliments and it suits them both well. Regardless, you don't choose a name to appease anyone else's tastes or ideas. BTW I gave my Evan the MN Kate.
