If it’s short for a more feminine, formal name it could work. But not as a given name, no.

I know a little girl named Scottie and I think it’s adorable! Some people are just so stuck on the typical girl names that they can’t handle anything different! I think your sister picked a cute name, and she shouldn’t let anyone else tell her any different!

There is a big difference between "something different" and plain ridiculous. Scottie is a pretty silly name for a girl.

I’m thinking of naming our baby girl Scottie as well! I love it - people are going to judge no matter what you name your child if you go with a unique name and that is THEIR OPINION - WHO CARES?! If your sis likes it, then she should go with it and not care what judgemental people think - they should get a life and go name their babies what everyone else is naming them.

I am a girl named Scotty...pretty thankful I do not know any of the people that had a negative remark. It is a name, and a proper name. A girl named [removed] is weird. A girl named Scotty is a girl named Scotty.

As a real life boy named Scott I never liked to be called Scottie because it sounded like a girl's name. So I say if you want to name a girl Scottie or Scotty go for it.

I named my daughter Scottie decades ago. It is very unique but is a very pretty name. She is lovely and stand out in a crowd.
