My surname is McKenna. Woah, I wouldn’t recommend it as a first name. All a bit strange ha!

It has special meaning to us. It means daughter of a handsome man, and my husband’s name (Kevin) means handsome man. Therefore its her name :)

I’m pretty sure it means son of Kenneth.

Makenna is really pretty and I think it’s especially good for your daughter considering the meaning of it

What is your last name, so we can see what looks best with it.
Personally, I like them in this order:
McKenna
Makenna
Mackenna

BTW, the name means Son of Kenneth.

I like Makenna the best:) I’ve never like the Mackenna, Mackenzie etc. It looks way better with an A! :) GL!!

I guess it depends on your baby name book and where you look. Mine says daughter of a handsome man.

Hmm, I thought your reason for wanting to use the name is very sweet, but I have to agree with those who are saying it means Son of Kenneth.

Mc means son of, and Kenna would be for Kenneth.

I’ve looked at these websites and they all say Son of Kenneth too... sorry OP!

Did anyone look up what the name Kenneth means? I found handsome, good looking...which is the same as daughter of a handsome man, is it not?

But you’re not having a son, you’re having a daughter, and no the meaning is not the same.

I’m sorry but the name is very overused. I say go with the most common spelling, McKenna but I like just Kenna.

Love the spelling Makenna! Beautiful name, GL!

Stick with the Celtic spellings McKenna or Mackenna. Makenna is only a phonetic spelling. GL.

Makenna is only for people who can’t spell. The other two are legitimate. I would choose Mackenna.

I also found MaKenna in a baby book saying the meaning was "daughter of a handsome man!" This was in 2008. My daughter’s name is MaKenna. I wanted the capital "K" & my ex-husband wanted the "a" instead of a "c" so we compromised. I still love it ... wouldn’t change it. Different but very easy to read, spell & pronounce. I only wish we were able to find "name things" with her name/spelling ... but to her (age 6) she loves it & thinks it’s unique & there aren’t 3 MaKenna’s or whatever in her class to get confused with. She’s MaKenna ... individual & special & we’ve met quite a few other "MaKenna’s" thru the years & the majorly spell it with an a instead of a c ... but only a few with the capital K! Your precious baby God gave to you ... for you to name & love & raise. Also, my daughter has 2 middle names like in the "olden" days ... as she has both my father & mothers middle names. MaKenna Pearce-Louise. 6.5 years later it flows right outta her mouth & the sound is music to my ears. And she has many nicknames "Kenny" "Ken Ken" "Kenna" "Kenna Banana" "MK" ... just to name a few!
