I really don’t think there is a female version of Joshua ... but, you might consider:

ELISHA
GENDER: Masculine
USAGE: Biblical, Biblical Hebrew
OTHER SCRIPTS: אֱלִישַׁע (Ancient Hebrew)
PRONOUNCED: i-LIE-shə (English), ee-LIE-shə (English)
Meaning & History: From the Hebrew name אֱלִישַׁע (’Elisha’), a contracted form of אֱלִישׁוּעַ (’Elishu’a) meaning "my God is salvation". In the Old Testament, Elisha is the prophet who is the successor of Elijah.

Because its meaning is similar to Joshua.

JOSHUA

GENDER: Masculine
USAGE: English, Biblical
PRONOUNCED: JAH-shə-wə (English), JAW-shwə (English)
Meaning & History: From the Hebrew name יְהוֹשֻׁעַ (Yehoshu’a) meaning "YAHWEH is salvation". Joshua was one of the twelve spies sent into Canaan by Moses, as told in the Old Testament. After Moses died Joshua succeeded him as leader of the Israelites. As an English name, Joshua has been in use since the Protestant Reformation.
The name Jesus comes from a Greek translation of the Aramaic short form יֵשׁוּעַ (Yeshu’a), which was the real name of Jesus.

I really can’t think of a female version of Joshua... In case it’s a girl, why don’t you ask him to suggest a middle name? Or use his middle name or his last name?

Joshuenna, Joshuanna, Joshuina, Joshina,Joshuetta, Joshette, Joshuna, Joshuessa.

Yes I did just invent all of those, but why not.

Joshua and Elisha mean the same thing i.e. God is salvation. Elisha is unisex so it would be a good alternative either as a boy or girl’’s name.

I like Joshuette. I made it up but it looks very similar to some that guest Joshua came up with. Also I read that Jocelyn came from Joshlyn. I think Joyce may have also come from Jocelyn/Joshlyn. Seems I read that somewhere too.

A form of Joshua is the spanish form "Jesús", which is also a spanish form of Jesus used as a personal name. (Joshua is also a form of Jesus, if you didn’t know)
The female form of "Jesús" is Jesusa. Therefore, by extention, "Jesusa" is the female form of Joshua.

I'm a girl named Joshua. I do go by Jossie since.. Always. BUT, my name did grow in me, i think it's hot and different! Never really paid mind to it.. and suprisingly i didnt get bully as much as you would think. Maybe because i am foreign and people thought my culture had to do with the name choice. Lol.

The French and I think also Spanish form of Joshua is Josué. It sounds beautiful in the romance languages and also very 'feminine' to the English speaking ear. If I were looking for a feminine version I would call her Josué.

Hi! I have two names. The second one is Josela. But a friend of mine in college gave me a pet name, "Josh", even though I am a female. Since then, I am called "Josh" and I do prefer being called out that name because it is easy to remember, catchy and funny, too. I just don't know but I really loved being called "Josh"--very unique you see. Lol.
P.S. I even had my first born, a girl being baptized with it with her second name "Josh" and she loves it, too!

I think the name Jessica comes closest in sound to Joshua, as an actual name (not made up). I'm surprised that no one else said it.

All these names are pretty bad, but I joshlynn is the least cringe amongst them. Anything else sounds on like a drug.
