Rusty vs. for a girl

I am expecting my first baby girl. My husband passed away when I was three months pregnant. His nickname as a child was Rusty. I really want to name our daughter this. I was thinking Rusty Abigail, because I like the meaning or Rusty Charlotte because my husbands middle name is Charles. What do you think? My husbands first name was Ross.

Rusty means red-headed. Find a name that has the same meaning. You like Charlotte so why not use Scarlet?

I think Rusty is a bit much, and although it’s lovely that you’re honoring your husband, there are other options.

Rosalind
Rosalie
Rosie
Rosalia
Rosanna
Rosanne
Rosamund

or Charlotte as a first name.

But Rusty... it’s a MASSIVE risk.

I’m very, very sorry for your loss. Personally, I don’t really like the name, and I think you could honor your husband by using Rusty or Ross as a middle name. I have to wonder if your husband would like it for his daughter? However, if you love it and it’s special to you, use it.

Suggest using a form of Ross? Rusty nn

Rossie - Latin for Rose
Roz - German for Tender
Ros or Rosalind
Roas - Frisian - Rose

Or Rose Charlotte is gorgeous

I like the commenter 2’s idea, because Ross and Rose are so similar but yet it’s still feminine, and I’d keep Charlotte to honor him as well. It’d be his name sake but still a beautiful girl’s name.

Rustette , rustina , two cute options but i must admit i quite like rusty it can be cute and whimsicle or it can be strong and charming & that makes it a great name for a boy or a girl !!!! :)

I absolutely LOVE the name Rusty for a girl! I have always wanted to name my first daughter Rusty. I get a lot of mixed reactions when I tell people that but I think it’s perfect. Especially for a little southern girl, and then with a super feminine middle name! LOVE IT!

My name is Rusty Mary Nicole. I love my name and yes it can be hard to deal with when I played sports but it was still awesome since no other girl had the same name .
