George vs. 1 Syllable vs. 2 Syllables

Is George 1 syllable, or 2? I’ve be trying to figure it out for a while now, but I’m still not sure... Is it supposed to be (jorj) or(jor-j)? I’m really not sure! Please help! Thanks- Laura

George is pronounced "johrj". The nn Georgie would be pronounced with two syllables. The German form of Georg (with no "e" at the end) is pronounced "[removed]-ohrg". GL.

It helps to hold your hand slightly underneath your mouth when saying a word if you are trying to figure out how many syllables there are :)

One syllable. The final -e is silent.
