Collin vs. Colin

Which spelling is the most common one/best? I want it pronounced Call- in rather than Cole- in. I know that Colin can be pronounced Cole-in as in Colin Powell. Any help?

I like it spelled with 2 ll’s as well. I don’t like the way this name looks but I love the name Collin when it is pronounced. All of the boys I know with this name are very smart. I prefer the Call-in pronounciation as well. The most common way to spell it is Colin.

THe correct way is Colin and is pronounced Col-in, NOT Colon...........My dad’s name is Colin, spelled and pronounced properly. Love this name (for many reasons).

There is no correct way to spell any name. There are original spellings but that is the beauty of naming...you get to decide what you name your baby and how you spell it..Unfortunately some people go overboard and spell a name like Jackson, Jaxsyn...but for a name like Colin I see nothing wrong wtih spelling it Collin...kind of like the last name Collins. I prefer Collin because I like others who have posted see the word Colon in the spelling Colin.

If you want it pronouced Call-in I would go with Collin. Especially with Colin Powell being on news/tv so much and the way people pronouce his name.

I prefer the spelling of Colin, but I personally would choose Collin, only due to the common misconceptions about pronounciation. I was showing my fiance my lists of baby names, and he said automatically, "Why in the heck would we want to name our child Colon! [I had written down Colin.]" I then explained the right way that I had meant for it to be said. If he can’t even get it right.. you get the gist! : )

I prefer Colin over Collin because Collin is a typo of Colin. They just copied it. As well Colin is way cuter that Collin. It sounds better and Colin is more popular. Colin is the one you should always use.

Colin is better than Collin because Collin is a surname.
