DJ is also a boy name because of Roseanne.
Actually, either gender can go by initials... no matter the initials. It depends on what the initials REPRESENT that make it a girl or boy name.
Full House- Donna Jo Tanner = girl
Roseanne- David Jacob Connor = boy
(I’ve seen way too much TV in my life.)

I don’t consider it a name period. It is initials that can be used for a boy or girl.
Give him a D name and a J name then call him DJ if that’s what you want. When he is 30 he may be happy he has a real name to fall back on.

DJ is short for something. He’s going to be named after his dad, David, so we’re going to call him DJ for David Junior.

Is he going to be a true jr? Middle name and all? I would name him David and then a middle name that started with J that way he could be set apart from his father by being called his mn bc I can’t see a kid in high school still going by DJ as a nn sorry it doesn’t grow up well.

I know a David Joshua who goes by DJ. It’s great.
