Beau looks classier for a first name. Bo looks more like a nick name to me. Really depends what you are looking for.

Beau is girly.. why would you think it is more masculine? It is a very old fashioned term for boyfriend.. my beau and I.. My sons would hate having ot spell their name that way especially in High School.. Here’s our Wrestling Star... "beau"... No.. BO.. that looks more manly.. since when did a man ever make spelling more complicated then it had to be?? you could think of going with Body or Brody nn Bo too.. but if you want just Bo I would go withthe Bo. even Boe would be better then Beau.

I agree Bo or Boe would be the best spelling. Beau seems girly somehow. Not in how it sounds but how it is spelled.
I asked my sons 15, 17 and 19 what they thought.. they all said BO!.. lol

Bo looks more red neck. Besides Beau(spelled like that) means handsome in French. Its classier. Also when you spell it
B O it reminds me of body odor.

I don\’t like either spelling and if I have a little girl I would call her bow-daisy. I don\’t think that Beau even looks like its suppose to sound. And Bo is defently a reminder of body odor. I prefer this name to b a girls

Beau is short for beauregard which is a classic southern name meaning handsome, etc.
it is far more sophisticated and classy in meaning than a simple "bo". Educated yourselves, its not girly

It's interesting that people see Beau as feminine. I'm French and in french words are actually assigned masculine or feminine and Beau is masculine. It's used to describe masculine things otherwise you would use the feminine equivelNt "Belle."

Bo Jackson, Bo Duke. Don't really care what the French believe is masculine. Bo in just appearance is far more masculine whereas Beau is more elegant.

We are naming our third boy Beau as well. And yes, Beau is the proper spelling for a boy. Bo and Beaux are mostly used for girls. Beau IS french for handsome, but to each their own. While doing research on the name itself to make sure it was not really popular right now, i only came across about 15 Bo's and upwards of 100 Beau's. I love the name and think it will fit great with my two other boys.
