Emilia vs. Amelia vs. ??
I really like Amelia but I also love Emily and Emma. I was thinking Emilia would be the perfect choose for our little girl, due in a few weeks time. I love Emmy and Mila or Milly as nn options (which wouldn’t really work with Amelia either). But my mum thinks Emilia isn’t the correct spelling and my daughter would be constantly correcting people her whole life. What do others think? Also, what’s a beautiful middle name?

I love love love the name Emilia! It is one of my top 2 names. People often make comments about preferring the Amelia spelling when I post polls about it, but Emilia and Amelia actually have different origins and meanings so they are completely different names, not just alternate spellings. Also, I love that Emilia isn’t so common like Amelia and I prefer the nn options for Emilia. I say 100% go for it! As for needing to correct people. I have a very common (well formerly common) name (Ann) and people are ALWAYS spelling it wrong. Same with the name Sarah, you could also be Sara. Both spellings are correct, but people often have to correct the spelling. So I say if you like Emilia don’t let that worry stop you :)

Emilia is one of my favorite names! It’s a legit spelling; it’s the Italian variation (which is why I’ll use this one). Also, the spelling Amelia is the term used when someone is born without a limb. I’ve always much preferred the Emilia spelling (agree, much less common) and Mila is a wonderful nickname. I wouldn’t worry about having to correct spelling.

I love Emilia, but Amelia is the more common way to spell it, so yes, your mom may be correct...

I personally prefer Amelia, and think you could still definitely get Milly and Mila from it.
If however you love Emilia, I still think that’s fine - it’s a real name, people will definitely know how to prn it, and even though I think most people would automatically spell it Amelia, all she has to do is say "It’s spelt the "e" way" and I’m sure people will know what she means

I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby girl. My first name is Emily. I want to name her Emillia, but I don't want people to pronounce it E-mill-ya. I just want it pronounced just like Amelia. I'm at a war with myself on what to do. Her name was supposed to be Emillia Monroe. NN Millie.
