Avalee vs. Avaley vs. Avely

My husband and I have decided to name our first daughter after her great great grandmother, whose name was Avalee. However, I’m noticing that some people pronounce the name differently than we do. We are thinking about changing the spelling to help get the correct pronunciation the first time. Would you please describe how you would pronounce each of these spellings? Try to include wich syllable you would emphasize, since that’s part of the trouble we’re having. Thanks so much for your help! :) Avalee Avaley Avely

I would say the first two AY-vuh-lee (like Avery) which I really like. and the last one Ayv-LEE w.o the uh sound (like Avery) or Av-lee (like Avenue) which is still cute but not as much as Avalee/Avaley. I prefer the spelling Avalee though.

How would you be pronouncing it? I have only ever heard it said Ay-vuh-lee and I really like this name. Avalee Grace or Avaleigh Jayne are really cute. GL

Thank you so much for your comments! We would like it to be pronounced AY-vuh-lee with the emphasis on the beginning. However, many people seem to interpret the name as two parts, like MaryJo, and they are emphasizing the ending (ava-LEE), which I don\\\’t like. You all have made me feel better about it, though. :)

We namedourbaby girl Avely and we actually wanted it to be pronounced like Aevly but thought the spelling looked weird. Now she gets Av-uh-lee all the time and we are considering changing her name, the spelling. She just turned one year..... I feel like a wing bat doing that......
