Elinor (English version) vs. Eleanor (French version) vs. Please read & comment thanks
Eleanor is the French spelling and Elinor is the English spelling. I prefer the name pronounced El i nor instead of El a nor but I know that many people think I am trying to be creative with the "i" spelling instead of the "ea" spelling, even though it is the English version of the name. Personally I like how the "ea" spelling looks but I prefer the "i" pronunciation. What are your thoughts on the two pronunciations and spellings. Please comment. I know the "ea" spelling is more popular. Thanks

I am French. I know several Eleanors (its a beautiful name, btw). We spell it Eleanor, but still pronounce it el I nor. So you can spell it the way you want to and still pronounce it the way you want to also.

Eleanor is lovely as long as is pronounced without emphasis on the "or". If pronounced like doctor, solicitor etc it is a lovely soft word. EleanOR sounds ugly and harsh to me.
