Emma spelled as "Ema" vs. Trashy? vs. Not

there is a severe case of child abuse which led to a baby’s death in oklahoma, baby’s name was "ema". I comented mother was "trashy" don’t have to know her look how she spelled her child’s names ( other siblings were Kadence Colt kollette torrance)! A woman jumped down my throat saying how you spell names doesn’t make you trashy (which wasn’t my only point about this horrid mother!) and that her oldest kids all have different "spelt" names...these kids 6 or 7 while in diapers & t shirt, barefoot, hair everywhere... I kinda thought she proved my point! Yes I am OVERLY OPINIONATED, but original question - Emma or Ema?

Are you saying you like the spelling of the name Ema but don’t approve of the mother who used it? I don’t like it at all it just reminds me of an emu but at least she didn’t call her kid Emu.

No, I like the name Emma, and think the mother should of spelled it Emma! "ema" ? Why change the spelling to such a classic name? And with the other siblings names, they just look "trashy" or uneducated maybe (?). LOL at emu!

Ema, ick yes, but look at how she spelled Colette, I assume that’s the name the mother was going for? KOLLETTE? Hmmmm. Yeh, her name choices are definately not the same as what I would choose.

Ema is how the name is spelled through most other continents, especially Europe. That is because if they saw two M’s, they would pronounce it Em-m-a. In English, it mostly represents that we hold the m sound for a longer period than the a or e. So, unless you were living in Europe, it is not a very English culture name. If she were living in the U.S, Emma, if Europe: Ema. Also, if you are a U.S citizen or from somewhere else who uses two M’s, you tell Europeans that and they will only pronounce one m. Really, one M in the U.S is just not to my liking.
