Evangelia vs. ?
I really like names that are super "frilly", and girly. I also really like names that end in "uh" sound. I do believe this name hits both points. Do you think we should use a nn, since Evangelia is 5 syllables? Thinking Lia for the nn, if we do use one. I’d also like some one syllable middle name suggestions too. How do kids do with nn’s when they get older, how do you explain to them that they in a sense have 2 names? Thank you, please comment and give as much feedback as you want!

I prefer Evangelina. Evangelia doesn’t flow as nice and sounds made up. Nicknames could be: Eva, Lia, Angel, Lina etc..

Not the biggest fan of Evangelia (assuming it’s eh-van-djeh-LEE-ah, not eh-van-DJELL-yah or something?) but Lia is cute.
I honestly can’t remember what my mum explained to any of us (my 3 siblings and I all have nicknames), I just remember always being called "Kat" and "Katherine" being my so-called ’formal’ name for forms and such.

I agree, think Evangelina flows better. Use name and nickname both and no explanation needed.

I prefer Evangelina to Evangelia. I think the nicknames Evie, Angel, Angie, or Lina are all great options for Evangelina. And as for the growing up with a nickname, there’s usually no need to explain it. You will end up using her full name at times (usually when she is in trouble) and her nickname other time. She will understand. My niece Elizabeth has many different nicknames (Lula, Lizzie, Wezzie, Lissee, Lulu, Lola, and BB) and we have never had a problem with her being confused. Evangelina is a great name. GL

I know Ava is popular but it’s still cute. I just thought it might be a nice thought. Do you like it??

Evangelina is the best.
Don’t worry about nicknames - they often just evolve and are not what you plan them to be. They are signs of affection so it doesn’t really matter too much what they are and it certainly shouldn’t influence your first name choice too much.

I like Ava, but I have an attachment to the sound of Leah, but don’t want to name my daughter that, cause it means weak, weary, or wild cow. Meanings mean alot to me, and I wanted to find a name that had a more posotive meaning, with the sound of Leah for a nn. Thank you though, PP.

What about Angela or Angelina
Great name! That’s a great idea to make Leah a nickname for Evangelia and give it a more formal first name and a better meaning.

I don’t think u have to worry about explain the real name and nn. They’ll know which is there real name if they hear it enough same thing with nn.
