Megara vs. Greek pronunciation MEY-ara vs. English pronunciation MEG-ara
We really like the nickname Meg for a girl. We do want our daughter to have a full name. Our favorite so far is Megara, a character from Greek Mythology and a Greek city. The Greek pronunciation of this name is MEY-ara, which would leave us with the nickname Mae/Mey. But we really want to use Meg. So which pronunciation should we go with? Thanks~ Mal and David

I like Meg-ara better. IMO its just being pronounced the way its spelled. Go with Meg-ara!

LOVE IT! A lot of people go with names such as Athena or Persephone nowadays. But she will be the only Megara in her class without her name being ridiculous. Pretty nickname too
