Maddy vs. Maddie vs. Mattie

Which spelling is best? We have decided that we want to use either Madeline or Margaret for her full first name. I love Madeline, but we also love Margaret, and it gives her more options, we think. What do you think? Thanks! -Kate

Go for Margaret! This is a beautiful, classic name, and the best part is that it’s not too common these days. Madeline’s and Madison and Maddy’s are all over the place right now. Margaret will make her beautiful and unique, and she can go by Mattie, Maggie, or Meg - also unique names. She’ll appreciate having a name that’s just hers, that she doesn’t have to share with her friends and peers.

Margaret is a much better choice than Madeline. Madeline is too popular right now and Margaret is beautiful and timeless.
