Hayden/Girl

Does it depend on the spelling? I’d like to give it to our little girl however it’s spelled, but my wife thinks it’s a strictly masculine name no matter how it’s spelled.

There is an actress/singer named Hayden Panettiere, she’s a girl and the only Hayden I’ve ever heard of. I’ve only ever seen it spelled as Hayden, I think it sounds feminine. It’s kind of unisex, it’s fine for a little girl. I’d say search Hayden on Google, it’ll probably come up with Hayden Pannetiere, she’s the most famous Hayden there is.

I like the spelling Hayden. It can be used on a boy or a girl imo

To me, Hayden is a boy’s name and all the variant spellings are an attempt to feminize a very masculine name. I live in Iowa, near the University of Iowa where the "winningest" football coach was Hayden Fry. Definitely a guy. Around here there are gazillions of people who named their child for Hayden Fry. The weirdest spelling I’ve seen is Haidyn, for a girl. Fry has retired, but there’s an annual FryFest and he gets photographed with a huge group of kids each year who have variations of his name. I\’m kind of with your wife, though.

Considering how popular "Aiden" names are for boys, I’d say boy. She will be in a classroom filled with boy’s named Aiden/Jayden/Caden... Not fun in general, but especially a girl with a name shared with boys.

I know it as a girl and boys name and I like the spelling Hayden best
