Why not just spell it right? Less confusion and hassle for your child who ultimately has to use the name.

Ariel or Arielle - besides that there are none that are normal. Save your child the hassle of constantly correcting people.

well there is no such thing as a "right spelling", every language has its own variant, and several variants at that, I want as many spellings as I can choose from without it loosing its integrity...

If you live in a country with mostly English speakers, I wouldn’t do anything but Arielle or Ariel. Those other beginnings will looks very trashy and misspelled to any person who speaks English. I don’t know what’s acceptable in other languages but it seems to me you speak English.

ok I wasn’t looking forward to rude comments, but if u must know, im native American and Irish, and my husband is from Israel, I really don’t care if u think its "trashy" that’s really mean for to u talk like that. all I want is variant’s not a bunch of malicious comments to try to beat me into submission so I name her Arielle/ariel because that is what u prefer? I just want different spellings that’s it, and if u must know I believe in numerology so I need a "sound" version of the name.

You should find a person who has a creatively spelled name and ask them how they feel about it. Most will tell you that they wish their parents had chosen the more common spelling of the name. The only real variant of Ariel is Arielle. The others are considered alternative spellings. I wouldn’t chose them b.c they look ugly but oh well
Arrielle, Arial, Arriel, Aerielle

I know this is an old topic, but when people want to say that spelling a name in an uncommon way is being mean to the kid, let me let you in on a little secret. My name is Jessica, my mom THOUGHT about spelling it like Jessika, but didn’t. Truth is, I wish she HAD spelled it that way! My name, if I wasn’t adopted would have been Zelda, the name on my first birth certificate was Arianna...

My whole life, I have had to deal with the fact that there are always other Jessica’s, whether it’s school, work, get togethers, synagogue...you name it there will be another Jessica. At least, with the other spelling they could have said "Jessika with a K" annd we would have known exactly who they were talking about. I went by Zelda when I worked at Pizza Hut because there were four Jessica’s working there and only twenty employees altogether. My last job at Papa John’s my boss’s name was Jessica so I went by Red, a nickname that was given to me by the manager at the gas station when I dyed my hair a bright red colour.

You seem to understand the idea and thought about asking people with uncommon names and spellings, but you didn’t think about the fact that others who live with names that are heard everywhere you go are the most annoying names out there, no matter how pretty they may be...

Now, on the topic of other spellings of Ariel there are, Arielle, Arial, Aryal, Aryelle, Irial, Eryal, and the list goes on. The best way that I like to think of how I am going to spell a name (not a mom but a writer) is to just sound it out and think of what other letters can be used in place, like I and Y, or E and I and A...it’s how you pronounce the letters.
