Calen vs. Caelen vs. Caylen

What spelling for KAY-len? Our son is named Caylon and while he’s old enough to know his name, he hasn’t learned to spell yet. So we’re going to keep the name, but we’d like to know what the best spelling would be. Calen, Caelen, Caylen, or leave it as Caylon? Thanks!

My son is Caelan.

Do you not like the spelling anymore?

Oh. Sorry. He is adopted. We’ve kept his name, but now that he’s close to going to school we’re wondering about the spelling. Somehow, Caylon looks like it will be confusing.

Cae- or Cai- SCREAMS girl. Overall, a very weak boy name. Caylon ONLY.

Caylon doesn’t look like it’d be pronounced like Cay-len. Even just changing the O to an E would probably help. If you don’t like the spelling, find which one most appeals to you the most.

We liked Caelan because it was the first one we saw and no one has really had any trouble pronouncing it when they read it. He’s only two so we haven’t encountered school yet but we think it’ll be alright.

Personally, I like Caelan the best. Even if it weren’t my son’s name, I just think it looks the nicest. Calen looks like it could be Cal-en, like Callen.

Here are a few alternatives, in the order that I like them
Calen (because it’s the most simple, like Jaden or Caden)
Caylen (because it’s also intuitive)
Caelan
Caelen
Caylan
Cailen
Caylon

I don’t think you should use a K, because I imagine that more on a girl, or any more than 1 y because that looks tacky.

This is a very feminine name so Caylon is the only spelling that has even an ounce of masculine to it. Keep it! And whatever you do, don’t spell it with a K, Cae, or Cai!

Its not a feminine name at all, not unisex even! Cailan would be best imo its a Scottish boys name.

Caelan/Cailan isn\’t feminine its a total boys name.
