Names With vs. Similar Style vs. To Darcy

I know I pretty much just posted, and I apologize but even with people saying Darcy is nice I just can’t get myself to love it! Since I don’t want to shoot down my boyfriend completely, I’m looking for non unisex names that are kind of similar in style with Darcy. Do you have any ideas? Anne is going to be used as a middle name! Thanks and sorry if I seem picky or rude in any of my comments!

I like Amelia and Poppy! My one drawback to Amelia, Poppy, and Daisy is that they’re all pretty popular where we live. Also, please remember that I do not want unisex names, I’m very picky about that so please do not suggest anything that could be considered unisex (for example names like Aubrey, names ending in Son, Cassidy, Morgan, etc.)

I didn’t see the first poll. I’m assuming your problem with Darcy is that it’s unisex?

Do you want a name similar in sound to Darcy because I’m not sure you’re going to find one that’s similar in style without it being unisex/surnamey.

I’m so sorry to be picky but this one thing catches my eye...
So you said you wanted to name your kid Darcey Anne. Correct? It is just a little weird that Harry Styles (A singer in a popular boys band listened to by teens) wants to name his first daughter Darcey Ann Styles. If that is all your doing on this site...I suggest you stop playing around. If this is TRULY what you wants to name your child...I suggest Demi Anne...Darby Anne...or Darla Anne.

Yes, that is my main problem with Darcy; that and I’m just not a fan of the sound.

I’m not totally sure how to express what I’m looking for; it doesn’t have to sound like Darcy but something with a similar feel? I know that probably doesn’t clear anything up, I’m sorry! I truly do not know how to express what I’m trying to get at. I do like Delilah, Rosie, and Thalia! Though Rosie seems a bit too cutesy for an adult to me, so I’m not too sure about that one
posted by Poster :: 11 years ago | report
I don’t like any of those, sorry guest! Please, PLEASE remember that I do not want ANY unisex names!
posted by Poster :: 11 years ago | report
If you like a name I wouldn’t worry about its popularity, unless its in the top 10-15 of course.
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Many of the names that have been suggested that I do like are in the top 20 or so; some of them even being in the top 5; would that be a problem?

posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Please, please, please, I’ve said this many times now; I do NOT WANT UNISEX NAMES! I’m sorry if I sound rude but that is the ONE thing I do not want! I do like Louise, Alice, and Millie though popularity once again is making me hesitant.
posted by Poster :: 11 years ago | report
Popularity wouldn’t be a concern if you LOVED a name and you’d regret not using it. That doesn’t seem to be the case with any of those, though.

I know a Rosie who is 20, although we’re Scottish and names like Rosie and Maisie and Archie, etc. are more normal in the UK than they are in the US. Americans are definitely more formal with names.

Jessa
Penelope
Layla
Tess/Tessa
Gemma
Olive
Maeve

Can you express what Darcy "feels" like to you? Is it charming? Is it fit for a ballerina? Is it tomboy? Is it smart? etc.
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Darby is a unisex name which I have specifically said many, many times now I do not want!
posted by Poster :: 11 years ago | report
who cares how popular a name is? as long as you and your husband like it what does it matter what anybody else thinks? don’t not use a beautiful name just cause you hear it a lot. it must mean that its a perfect name
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Popularity doesn’t matter, I don’t think. As long as you love a name, what’s it really matter? I like Millie Anne best. It’s pretty adorable. You could also make it stand-out more by frequently calling her by both names.

HARPER ANNE! :)
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
A few of them do worry me though as I know my boyfriend will probably not want anything in the top 10 or so; so I will probably go back through the names and eliminate those before I show him the list.

I know that Rosie and other -ie names are common and normal as we live in the UK (though I am from America) but it just doesn’t seem fit as a full name to me. I like Penelope but it is a name that we can’t use. I don’t know how to describe the feel either; I feel so useless about that I’m sorry! I guess it has a tomboy feel, which I don’t like, mixed with a fresh (?) feel?
posted by Poster :: 11 years ago | report
Harper is a unisex name, I do NOT want unisex names! Please respect the fact that that is probably the only thing I do not want and please stop giving unisex name suggestions
posted by Poster :: 11 years ago | report
woah don’t suggest Harper. it may be too unisex
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
I’m not sure if that is meant to be sarcastic (as you can never tell over the internet) but if it is so, please do not be rude. I know some like unisex names but I despise them which is why I already feel bad about not being able to love Darcy which is the only name my boyfriend loves

posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Alice has been suggested a few times, and is on the list; my hesitation is that it is fairly popular here. I like Clara and Juliet; as well as Rose but Rose Anne seems very silly to me. I do like the idea of Rosie or Rose as a nickname but I really don’t like Rosalie

Is Perrie unisex? if not then Perrie Anne is nice.
I also Like Kimberley Anne, Lexi Anne, Kirsty Anne, Samantha Anne (although nicknames Sam and Sammy are unisex so you might not like it)
Theresa Anne, Jacqueline Anne, Amelie Anne
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
have you ever thought of using a double barrel first name. in my opinion if you used Darcy-Anne as a full first name then it sounds much girlier. or maybe Darla-Anne or just Darla as a first name
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Perrie is a different spelling of boy name Perry, so I’m pretty sure it’s unisex. I don’t like unisex names either. How about Rosamund nn Rosie? Or Francesca, Seraphina, Georgina, Levina, or Mirabelle?
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Perrie is unisex as it is a spelling for Perry. I do like Amelie and Rosamund!

A double first name wouldn’t do much to make me like Darcy. Anne is after my mother so I don’t want to use it as our baby’s first name and I dislike the look of double middle names and I don’t like Darla, sorry guest!
