Marie vs. Maree vs. Middle Name

Hi, I’ve been have a few issues with the name Marie. I plan on using it as a middle but the issue is the spelling. I wanted to use it in honour of my sister who’s middle name is Maree, but when ever I ask which one is best with name combos peopl say they like it only spelled Marie and even the baby namer down grades my name chooses when I spell it Maree. Should I listen to what other people are saying (it looks chunky) or stick with the family spelling (even my cousins middle name is Maree)? Please Help.

To me, Maree is MAR-ee, not mah-REE, which is spelt Marie. It depends. If you want to name her after your sister, use the same spelling as your sister. If you just like the name, use Marie. It’s a middle name, after all. A lot of people have strange middle names...

This is actually really tough.

To me, Maree is pretty but I can see where other people are coming from.


However, you could have the pronounciation "Mah-ree" but then say you want your daughter to be unique and different in the family and spell it as "Marie"
So that way you’re honouring family and giving the kid a unique name to your sis?

If after you’re sister, then spell it like her. If you just like than name than Marie.

The only problem with Maree that I can find is that upon looking at it, I would be confused as to whether it was pronounced like Marie or like Mary. But I have seen it spelled like Maree before and while I prefer the spelling Marie, if it’s a family name I think you should go with the one that most honours your family.

Heeey my name is maree well it's Crystal-maree but that doesn't matter right now, what matters is what u think and don't let other people tell u what u should do or not coz I think u should keep maree hence it is your sisters name and also runs in ur fam 😎
