Pippa vs. Full vs. Name?
Hi, I really like the name Pippa, but I think it’s a better nickname than full name. I know that Phillipa is the traditional full name for Pippa, but I don’t really like it. Are there any others? Thanks.

Well, going with the thought that nicknames don’t always have to be perfect to the name (Like Pearl and Peggy for Margaret)

If your going to be calling her by Pippa, why not use the name Pippa its nice enough, not keen on nicknames my kids are called by their full names

I can answer about nicknames - sometimes someone likes the nickname of a name but knows that their child might not like being Molly forever and wants to give them a name that will give them options later- and will allow their resumes and such to look a bit more professional. Speaking as a Rebecca who goes by Becky among family and friends I much prefer my name- Rebecca- when at work.

I like Pamona. Paris, personally, sounds more nicknamey to me than Pippa if you’re worried about that though.

Consider that you may not like Philippa (usually spelled with one l, by the way), but your child might. With Pippa, there is no choice of something longer. With Philippa, you child could choose Philippa, Pippa, or even Phil. I’ve hear of women before with the nickname Phil, e.g. for Philomena or Phyllis. Patricia, Paula, Paola, or Philomena are all nice names. Philomena means "friend, lover" + "strength." Hope this helps.
