Nole vs. Noel

Which spelling? It’s pronounced like Nole. This is for our son and will be his middle name. I just don’t want a lot of problems with everyone thinking it’s " Noelle". Btw we live in the US.

Noel is (supposed to be) always pronounced as NOLE. I would keep this spelling, since it’s only a middle name and probably won’t be said very often.

Um, no it’s not. The word is, but not the name. Noel is a masculine name pronounced NOLE. Look it up. I think they know what they’re talking about if they’re giving the name to their son.

Noel, the masculine name, is pronounced NO-uhl. Noelle, the feminine name is pronounced No-L. If you’re looking for Nole, I guess I’d spell it that way.

Every show I’ve ever seen with a male named Noel it has been said as Nole.

If you want it pronounced Nole, then spell it that way. I have seen Noel (pronounced No-El) as both a male and female name, but I have never heard Noel pronounced one-syllable. Or you could go with Knoll for your desired pronunciation, but I think Nole is nicer.

Noel is pronounced Nole. I don’t believe in misspelling names to accommodate people who don’t know how traditional names are pronounced.
You will have to correct people either way.

Nole for sure.

I know of girls with the middle name Noel, No-el.

Noel is not pronounced No-el its Nol rhymes with Joel or Hole. Its not remotely feminine or unisex.

Last poster you seem to be confusing Noelle with Noel, completely different names.
