Alicia vs. Alisha
We’re not sure which spelling we prefer. We think Alicia looks classically beautiful while Alisha has a gentle, simple beauty to it. We adore both spellings immensely (and pronounce them the same way). Which do you think is prettier and why?

I say Alicia. When I see Alisha, I see Ah-lish-ah. I would know how to pronounce it, but it still would look off to me. Pretty name.

Alicia could be pronounced uh-leash-uh or uh-lee-c-uh. Alisha would only be pronounced uh-leash-uh.

Yes, Alicia *could* be pronounced that way, but it can also be pronounced uh-leesh-uh, and that is how we pronounce it.

Curious to see the outcome of this poll. I’ve wondered the same thing myself. The first girl I ever met with this name (way back in 1st grade) spelled it Alisha, but since then I have seen Alicia much more often. I think I would like Alisha better if I could be sure that it would always be pronounced Ah-leash-ah.

As and Alicia I really hate seeing it spelled alisha. It looks sloppy and dumbs it down. I’ve know many Alicia’s (and one Elisha) and never have they gone by a-lee-see-ya.

I really dislike this name for the sole reason that there is not a spelling where they pronunciation is obvious. I’ve known many people with this name, both spellings, and you either get Uh-lee-see-uh or Uh-lish-uh. Very rarely does anyone guess Uh-leesh-uh on the first try. That being said, I would go with Alicia, because I think that looks better and I’d rather be called Uh-lee-see-uh than Uh-lish-uh.
