Riley vs. Ryleigh vs. Rylie

Hi everybody I need some help picking out my daughter’s name. My husband and I both love this name for a girl we feel it fits our personalities very well the only problem is we can’t decide on the spelling. I know majority of people will say spell it the right way Riley which I do love but I really want to use the nickname Ry which would make more sense with the spellings Ryleigh/Rylie. Also Riley to me is more boyish looking. Her middle name will either be Grace or Renae and she will have an older brother (Landon James) and an older sister (Payton Olivia). Please no bashing the names we really love this name and it’s not changing we just need help on the spelling! Thank you!!

I would spell it Reilly. The sound is still there, you can still call her Ry, but the Ry- spellings look very trendy. It’s not boyish in any way, I know only one boy with the name and most people mistake him for a girl when they first read his name. Reilly Renee is very pretty (the made up Renae spelling looks very tacky).

Riley starts an begins with a y, so Ry seems perfectly appropriate for this spelling as well. I do like Riley on a girl, as it is, in my opinion, a true unisex name. I’m one who dislikes boy names in girls, but Riley is nice and great for a girl. I do prefer the Riley spelling, however.

My favorite spelling is Riley, but I get that u want to make her name look more girly so that she will not be confused with a boy. Don’t listen to those other negative comments and name her Rylie. It is absolutely beautiful and not made up in any way! In fact, I know a BOY named Riley, and a GIRL name Rylie. It is perfect.
I think that Rylie Grace is very sweet, but I prefer Rylie Renae. I like the spelling of that name very well, actually I think that Renae looks better with the A, but u can spell it RENEE too. Renee doesn’t look as pretty as Renae, but is usable.
Just remember, u and your husband have the final say in the matter!
Good luck!

I think the spellings Rylie and Ryleigh are fine. Do not listen to the negativity, this is your baby not theirs. Good luck and congrats on the new baby.

I’ve always loved the name Riley (with this spelling) for a girl. I just think it’s so cute and spunky. I don’t think it needs a girlier spelling, as I totally associate the name with a girl.

I named my son Ryley, that’s how I found it spelled in the baby name book, but for a girl I like Rylee, or Ryleigh. I would also think about when she finds something with her name on it she might be upset since it’s not Riley. My son was a little mad, but got over it when he couldn’t get anything at six flags with his name. I love the name though, great choice for a boy or girl !
